Bike Lane Violations in Cambridge
After this she took a photo of me
12 Vassar St, Cambridge, MA
Then she laughed in my face when I told her what she was doing was illegal and I had called the Cambridge Police. I doubt they showed up, but I know I ruined her day, even though she was "laughing," she was PISSED. :)
Another taxi in the bike lane
Massachusetts Ave and Brattle St, Cambridge, MA
At 7:40 am this taxi was parked in the bike lane. I called the Cambridge police but I doubt they did anything about it.
One more car in the Harvard Square bike lanes
Massachusetts Ave and Brattle St, Cambridge, MA
At 7:50 am on May 17th this car was parked in the bike lane. When I called the police to report it, they were dismissive since there were people in the car and it was idling. Apparently, the police think it is OK to dangerously block a bike lane as long as you are only going to be there for 5 min. This was only one of the four bike lane violations I witnessed this morning in a two block radius.

MIT Police need coffee too?

MIT Campus Police cruiser parked in posted-no-parking bike lane (i.e. doubly illegal), on Ames St in front of the Starbucks. There was no one in the cruiser.
Ambulances park in bike lane for your safety?
broadway and ames st, Cambridge, MA
It's very thoughtful that someone who decides to park in the bike lane went out and got paramedic training first, so as to better help any cyclists for whom they caused accidents.
This ambulance was parked here (outside Starbucks) for at least 12 minutes -- they were there when I went by at 11:30, and were still there (with no one inside the vehicle) at 11:42.
Secret "loading zone"?

Last car from this batch. I'm pretty sure this was a New Mexico plate. There was no plate on the front bumper.

When I advised this gentleman, sitting in the drivers' seat, that he was parked illegally in the bike lane, he assured me that he was "just waiting" and that was okay. Uh, whatever.

The second of four cars parked in the bike lane in front of Starbucks'. This one was empty, and clearly illegally parked.
four cars in a row
broadway and ames st, Cambridge, MA
As I walked up to Starbucks to document this afternoon's offenders (parking in the bike lane on Ames St), a fourth car pulled up -- this livery vehicle. When I took the photo, the driver was still in the car, but as I walked down the row taking pictures of the other three cars, he got out and stood on the sidewalk.
I'm not sure this is technically illegal, but it's certainly annoying.
